BAIPA’s January workshop, You, Live and In Person, offers you tips and techniques to help you master (and enjoy) live presentation. Through demonstration and discussion, we’ll explore techniques to make your public appearances more fun for you and a whole lot more fun (not to mention, effective) for your audiences. Some of the topics we will cover include:
▪ Rehearsing
▪ Calming nerves
▪ A speaker’s focus
▪ Reading text
▪ Vocal projection
▪ Use of a microphone
Amanda McTigue is a storyteller on the page and for the stage. Her novel, GOING TO SOLACE, was released in August, 2012 by Harper Davis. Ecstatic reviews on Amazon include the following: “What THE HELP did for the Deep South, GOING TO SOLACE does for Appalachia.” Amanda is also an author-publisher. Through her company, Ideas Expressed, she has published two children’s books: DreamTime, adventure poetry for bedtime, and Once Upon a Lullaby, a book of lyrical poems with a companion recording of those poems set to music. She’s a Yale graduate whose stage works have been seen at the Minnesota Opera and Carnegie Hall. She’s a concept writer for Walt Disney Entertainment, Paramount/Viacom and a host of international design firms. She directs opera/music theatre regularly at Sonoma State University. And she coaches live presentation for both business people and theatrical performers in the North Bay area.
