How I got Published: True Stories from the Front Lines in Self-Publishing

Drawing from her own experience launching Living into Art, Journeys Through Collage, Lindsay covers topics of interest to self-publishers including planning a book, fundraising, and successful marketing. BAIPA members will hear how she developed her manuscript with the help of a crackerjack editor, raised over $10,000 to fund the printing, and how she promoted her book at 30 events in its first two years. Lindsay is a BAIPA member.

In Living into Art, stories of personal breakthroughs and transformation show how people with little or no art background can create successful and satisfying artwork with cut-magazine collage. Lindsay outlines a unique process that can be used for inner growth, activating imagination, and living a more psychologically- and spiritually-engaged life.

Lindsay is a publisher, print broker, and book coach to self-publishers. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a B.A. in journalism and women’s studies and has worked in print production and publishing for most of her career. Under her own imprint, Paper Lantern, she has published literary greeting cards and art prints, as well as written
and self-published Living into Art, Journeys Through Collage, and Self-Publisher’s Book Plan: How to Plan, Prepare, Publish and Promote Your Nonf

iction Book.
